What You Should Know Before Traveling to Marrakech

A one-size fits all approach to travel in general doesn’t work and it definitely doesn’t work in Morocco. It can be one of the most challenging cities to navigate for some people. Doing tons of research is very important before visiting Marrakech because not everyone has the same experience when they travel here. Some people have great experiences and some don’t.

A Budget Friendly 14 Hour Layover in Lisbon, Portugal

Whenever I start researching flights I always look for the ones with long layovers, taking routes that I’ve never flown before. It’s like buy one get one free, at the start of my most recent trip to Italy was no different. I found a flight from Boston to Rome, stopping in Lisbon for a good price and since I’ve never been to Portugal it’s the perfect place for a long stop.

Sextantio Le Grotte delle Civita, Matera, Italy

My first introduction to the Sassi di Matera in Matera, Italy was through a search for eco-friendly places to stay in Italy. Sextantio Le Grotte delle Civita was fascinating to me because of the concept. They took a carefully chosen group of caves and restored them using period details and materials that I knew I had to see it for myself.

5 Awesome Things to do In Naples, Italy

If you’re going to Naples and expecting it to be pristine, clean and romantic like Rome, don’t. Naples isn’t Rome. It was a bit of a shock to be honest, to see the differences between the two cities and quite frankly all of the other cities that I’ve visited while in Italy. I spent 8 nights there and found some really beautiful things to see while there, you just have to know where to look.

Alternative Things to do in Rome, Italy

Rome is a huge city full of history, a history that dates back over two thousand years. We all know about the Coliseum, Forum, Vatican, St. Peter’s, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc. and yes, if you’re a first time visitor to Rome seeing those places is a must. To not go would almost be blasphemous. But after one or two days of that, then what? Rome is so much more than those few sites. There are so many other buildings, neighborhoods, parks and squares that deserve just as much attention. These are not ”non-touristy” places, just less visited and therefore void of the overwhelming crowds.

Alpacas, Treehouses & Dali the Llama

Sometimes we tend to think that our experiences are random happenings, but I think that we walk our given paths. Most times unbeknownst and unconsciously. This Christmas season I wanted to travel, but didn’t really want to drive for hours or fly so far from home. I remembered about a treehouse in Atlanta that I had seen on Airbnb and decided to find out if it was available around Christmas Eve, it wasn’t. Though the one that I originally had in mind wasn’t available, I found another one that was available. This one is a lot more interesting because there are cute animals involved.

Finding Home? - Dar Es Salaam & Mafia Island

The sounds of motorcycles, horns, the call to prayer, people speaking in Swahili, the constant clacking of the cigarette man and his shells letting you know that he's around carry on late into the night. Staying in Kariakoo Market was one of the best places I could have stayed because it was vibrant and alive with people selling everything from car parts to rope, halal meats, fruit, clothes, shoes and anything else you might need.

My First Trip To Kenya

My very first trip to Kenya was exciting for a number of reasons, one of them being that I was sharing the experience with my sister. We hadn't traveled together out of the country as adults before and this was a chance for us to spend some together. Our first stop was London on a 14 hour layover, where we did a whirlwind tour of the most popular sites before heading back the airport to continue the second half of our trip.

Chocolate and Mountains Pt. 1

I was looking for snow, living in Georgia there aren't too many nearby options for "real" snow. The idea was to plan at least one trip this winter to a place within driving distance of Atlanta that would have snow. That's how I found Asheville, NC. They get a fair amount of snow in late winter, and since they're in the mountains its gorgeous during that time of year. I knew there wouldn't be any snow, but since I needed to do a trip I decided against waiting for the snow to visit. I've been on a mission since I moved to the Atlanta area to see as much of the region as I can between big trips abroad.

Starting My New Journey

It seems much easier to make a life changing shift in the way you live your life if you’re 23 with no responsibilities, just graduated from college and even the slightest idea that you want to buck the system and create your own path through life. What if you’re somewhere in the middle? Not fresh out of college, but not yet ready for retirement? That’s where I found myself sitting, somewhere in the middle. Not really saddled with a whole lot of responsibility, but with just enough to keep me from walking away from everything.
